Which lenses we fit

Spherical lenses – the standard kind

For short-sightedness and long-sightedness. The simplest and most common type – available as daily and monthly lenses.

Toric lenses – for astigmatism

Astigmatism (an uneven curvature of the eye that stretches the image) doesn't rule out contact lenses. A toric lens has a different power in two directions and is built so that it doesn't rotate on the eye. It needs more precise fitting – which is why the first visit is longer and always ends with a check-up.

Multifocal lenses – for distance and near

For people over forty who need correction for distance and for reading. They work on a similar principle to progressive glasses. A good alternative for those who don't want reading glasses in every pocket.

Daily or monthly

Daily – a new pair in the morning, in the bin in the evening; no care needed, the highest hygiene; best for people who wear lenses a few times a week, for allergy sufferers and for beginners. Monthly – need cleaning every day, but are cheaper for daily wear. At the visit we work out which comes out better for your lifestyle.

What the first fitting looks like

  1. Eye test – the power of a contact lens often differs from the power of glasses, because the lens sits closer to the eye.
  2. Assessment of the eye surface and measurement of corneal curvature – this determines which lens will sit stably and comfortably.
  3. Putting in trial lenses and checking how they sit and how you see.
  4. Learning to insert and remove them – we don't end the visit until you can do it yourself.
  5. Care instructions – what you can and can't do, and how to tell something is wrong.
  6. Check-up after a few days – we check tolerance and only then set the final parameters.

The first visit lasts about 45 minutes. Come without eye make-up. A contact lens fitting is a paid examination – PLN 150–500, depending on the type of lenses; the price includes a pair of monthly lenses with a small bottle of solution or 10 daily lenses, training in inserting them and a free check-up.

Rules that protect your eyes

  • clean, dried hands before every contact with a lens,
  • never tap water or saliva – only lens solution,
  • a monthly lens means 30 days from opening, not 30 days of wear,
  • replace the case every month,
  • don't sleep in lenses unless they're designed for it,
  • redness, pain, sensitivity to light, sudden deterioration of vision – take the lenses out and call us or an ophthalmologist.

Lenses for teenagers and active people

Lenses work well for young people who play sports – they don't fall out, don't fog up and don't limit the field of vision. We fit them for teenagers when a parent is present at the first visit and the child can manage inserting them alone. For children with progressing short-sightedness we also discuss the myopia control.

Frequently asked questions

Can I wear lenses if I have astigmatism?

Yes – toric lenses are designed precisely for astigmatism. They need more precise fitting and a check-up after a few days, but for most people they work very well.

Can I buy lenses online using the parameters from my glasses?

We don't recommend it. A lens's power differs from that of glasses, and the curvature and diameter must suit your eye. A badly fitted lens means discomfort and sometimes damage to the cornea. The first fitting should always be with a specialist.

How long does it take to learn to insert them?

Usually a dozen or so minutes at the first visit. We don't let anyone leave until they can insert and remove the lenses on their own.

Are contact lenses for people over forty?

Yes – multifocal lenses correct distance and near vision at the same time. A good alternative to progressive glasses, or a complement to them for sport and nights out.

How much does a fitting cost?

A contact lens fitting costs PLN 150–500, depending on the type of lenses. The price includes the examination, a pair of monthly lenses with a small bottle of solution or 10 daily lenses, training in inserting them and a free check-up after a few days. We fit until it works – you don't pay for extra lenses during the fitting.

How exactly we measure — the same in each of our four stores

In Oława (Iwaszkiewicza 133B and Chrobrego 20E/III), Oleśnica (Daszyńskiego 5F) and Jelcz-Laskowice (Cicha 43) we test and measure in the same way — for every type of glasses.

  • Video centration for every pair of glassesA camera measures the position of the lens relative to the eye — on the measuring towers Carl Zeiss i.Terminal (Chrobrego, Oleśnica, Jelcz-Laskowice) and in the system Rodenstock (Iwaszkiewicza). We do it for single vision, progressive, computer and sports glasses.
  • Binocular vision — in every examinationWe check convergence (how the eyes turn inwards for near vision), phorias (latent squint) and accommodation (the eye's ability to focus up close). This matters for children, for close-up work and for headaches.
  • Rodenstock DNEye Scanner 2+In every store: a quick refractive measurement at the free consultation (PLN 0), and in the professional examination (PLN 300) also eye pressure, corneal thickness, addition and assessment for cataract.
  • Progressive glasses: 30 days to adapt + second pair freeIf you don't get used to progressive glasses within 30 days, we replace the lenses with others free of charge (e.g. two pairs of single vision, office, computer). And with every purchase of HOYA or Diop progressives the second pair of lenses is free.

The examination takes 20–30 minutes and is free — always, even if you don't buy glasses. You try progressive glasses on in the examination room and on the simulator before you order.
